"He is an excellent teacher. "Eric was born and raised in San Diego. He began learning fingerstyle guitar at 11, having showed a keen interest in music. By the time he was 16, He was studying music at a college level, and began teaching at 18. Eric has always shown a strong ability to connect with students. He went on to study music at UC Santa Cruz, where he would tutor fellow students in ear training and music theory. After earning his B.A., he returned to San Diego, where he teaches and performs on a regular basis. Eric enjoys working with students of all ages, and differing levels of experience.
My lessons are often fun and spontaneous. I like to cater to the students individual needs--I can also teach a variety of styles. I would say my biggest strength is being able to connect with the student and give him/her some valuabe knowledge to walk away with.
I teach rock, classical, blues, pop...basically I teach what style you want to learn. I do incorporate good technique in my lessons, and I will encourage you to develop musically. I start with foundational skills: posture, hand position, chords, scales, basic songs, etc. (1-3 mo.) Then I move on fingerpicking styles and techniques, learning more songs and reading music notation (3-6 mo.)
I teach classical, rock, blues, bluegrass, some jazz. I emphasize proper hand position and technique. Fingerpicking is my area of expertise.
