MY PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE INCLUDES ROCK, JAZZ, BLUES, FUNK, R&B, ROCKABILLY, WEST AFRICAN POP, REGGAE, SKA, AND KLEZMER. I TEACH UPRIGHT AND ELECTRIC BASS, GUITAR, MUSIC THEORY AND MUSICIANSHIP.

My teaching approach is tailored around YOUR needs. After discussing your goals and what you hope to get out of taking lessons, I design a personalized curriculum focused at reaching specific goals within 3 months. I am patient and flexible, but will push when i feel that you need it. Depending on your goals, lessons include: technique (developing a strong sound on the instrument), playing music (I try to have the student playing real music from the beginning, no matter what level), music theory, and musicianship.

I grew up playing rock music and in my twenties studied Jazz Performance on Bass at the City College of New York. I currently perform and teach in the Jazz, Rock, Funk,R&B, and Blues idioms. My teaching approach is tailored to the needs and goals of particular students. That being said, emphasis is placed on performance over the theory. The theoretical aspects of music are important only as they become tools which the student can use to express his/her emotions.
