Three ways to get started

Hello! My name is Caleb. I've always had a love for music even before I first started to learn how to play the drums. I’ve been playing for 13 years now and have an even deeper appreciation for music now than I did then. My first taste of learning music like many people was in band class at my middle school. From there I took private lessons from local music stores for 4 more years. After that I wanted to get more serious and take my playing to a higher level, so I found a different teacher who had formerly taught at the Atlanta Institute of Music and studied under him. In addition to that I also gained experience playing in local bands and have recorded sessions in different studios. I’ve been teaching out of home and in music stores for 4 years now and it’s something I love doing. I’ve taught students from ages 5 to 75. I’m excited for my students when I see them progress in the style they choose to study in. One thing that I’ve learned from studying under different teachers and from teaching students is that everyone is an individual with their own goals, so I make it my job to help my students reach their own goals and have fun doing it.
I always start off getting to know my students on the first lesson. I’ll talk about the style of music they like, any goals that they want to reach and so on. Based on this information I will move forward in the direction my student wants to go. The atmosphere of my lessons are more laid back than strict because I like for everyone to enjoy what they are learning so that they can stay motivated. Most of my beginner students have been able to play and read a song from their own collection of music within 3 to 6 months. If the student is an advanced player then I will spend more time focusing on conceptual music theory and different ways to apply these theories to what they already know how to do.
The styles I can teach are Rock, Jazz, Latin, Reggae, Funk and more. I also teach different techniques for hand and foot dexterity such as Moeller, Push Pull, Drop Bounce, Toe Heel, etc... as well as music theory from beginner to advanced.
