Singing is Alive in Phoenix

I have been teaching singing lessons in Phoenix for TakeLessons since February 2010. In that time, I have been fortunate to work with a variety of students who have come to take singing lessons with several goals and aspirations in mind. My youngest student is seven years old and my oldest student is in her early thirties. I have had the opportunity to serve as a vocal coach for a young lady in the Miss Arizona and Miss America Pageant. TakeLessons is a flexible company to work with because they give students the opportunity to travel to the teacher’s studio or have the teacher travel to your home for lessons.
The city of Phoenix offers a lively music scene, ranging from traveling artists and groups performing concerts in downtown Phoenix to Broadway shows at Gammage Hall in Tempe, to local community performances. The Music School at Arizona State University is a wonderful resource for anyone in the Phoenix area. The Music School produces numerous concerts on a yearly basis and several which are free to the public. Phoenix is also the home of several accomplished musicians including Stevie Nicks, Alice Cooper, the Gin Blossoms and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
Each student comes to their singing lessons in Phoenix with their own goals. For some students, the goal is simply to learn how to sing and gain knowledge in vocal pedagogy, while other students are preparing for community theater auditions, school talent shows and university auditions. Most students have certain goals and deadlines that they would like to accomplish while taking singing lessons in Phoenix. As a vocal music teacher, it is rewarding to watch students grow from lesson to lesson and over the course of the year. The most memorable teaching and learning moments can happen at any time. It’s something simple, like when a student sings the correct vowel for the first time or when a student performs a difficult song.
