I love teaching and enjoy passing on that joy, knowledge, and experience to my students! Lessons are tailored according to the student's goals, abilities, and preference in musical styles. Whether you're wanting to learn the violin to play professionally or just as a personal hobby, I believe you should enjoy the learning process! Active as a teacher, performer, chamber and studio recording musician, I am passionate about music and enjoy teaching aspiring student. After 17 years as a freelance violinist in the greater Los Angeles area, I now reside and teach in Lynden, WA. I began violin studies at age four and made my solo orchestral debut at age twelve with the Vancouver Youth Symphony. I hold a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance from California State University, Long Beach. I've enjoyed teaching private lessons for 25 years and have experience in teaching group and private lessons to students of all ages, coaching string orchestras and string ensembles. My students have won competitions and concertmaster positions in their orchestras, and have been accepted into University Violin Performance programs around the country. I incorporate music theory, ear training and music history as part of lessons. University level conducting, music analysis, music history, voice, advanced piano an string pedagogy are part of my formal training. I help my students discover the genre of music they're passionate about learning, including classical, religious, pop, and fiddle. Lessons include scales, technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, solos, duets, music performance and the option to prepare for auditions and orchestras. I'm also experienced with the Royal Conservatory of Music, ABRSM and Suzuki methods, and tailor the curriculum for each individual student. Please contact me for up-to-date lesson availabilities!

Emma is really enjoying her lessons with you, Connie! Thank you for your patience and teaching her so much more than just the notes on the page. She’s gained confidence and excitement to keep learning the violin!
