I am a jazz drummer, composer, and educator. I have a background in both jazz and classical music and hold degrees from The Eastman School of Music (Jazz Performance) and New Mexico State University (Classical Percussion). Students can expect to steadily develop their technique and musicianship by working on customized assignments tailored to their interests and skill levels. I work to help students discover their musical passions and to find their voices within whatever style they choose to explore. I gig regularly in Upstate New York and have had the opportunity to play gigs made up of jazz standards, original music by my friends, and even wedding gigs made up of covers of classic pop songs from the 50s onwards. I have also had the opportunity to be mentored by a number of great artists including Gary Versace, Clarence Penn, Linda Oh, Melissa Aldana, and Steve Lyman. All of these experiences shape my pedagogy and help me help my students achieve what they want to musically. My personal focus is jazz drumming, but I believe that playing all styles is an amazing way to develop facility and versatility on the drums.
