Playing Music brings me such joy! I want you share that Joy with you by bringing that to our classes and helping you grow in a fun and encouraging way!

I'm a singer songwriter and have worked as a full time musician for the last 16 years. I graduated from Auckland University with Bachelor's of Performing Arts Majoring in jazz vocals, and am currently teaching at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. 

Currently I still primarily work as a full time musician so I may only have a few slots available but please feel free to reach out if you are interested in working with me. I release original music, tour and play shows regularly both in and out of town. I was signed to Sony and Avex in Japan from 2007-2010 and still tour Japan once a year and spend much of my time in the studio writing songs for commercials and other artists.

I currently teach online and I work with singers, guitarists, and songwriters in a wide age range, assorted skill levels with a variety of musical goals. 

I can teach you how to sing with better technique, how to play acoustic guitar and the Ukulele and how to write songs and performance technique in the studio and on stage as a vocalist. I can also teach music theory, rhythm training and basic keyboard to help you become a knowledgable and well rounded musician if you want to work on multiple areas a once.

Want to learn how to sing your favorite songs? Want to get over stage fright and build some confidence on stage or in the studio? Would you like help writing your first song? Do you feel tense in all the wrong places when you sing or have a hard time hitting the right notes?

I am an experienced working musician and over the last 18 years have done it all from touring, recording, writing songs and releasing an album through a label and would love to help you reach your goals whether it be playing your first open mic or preparing to record in a studio. I currently teach at Musicians Institute in Hollywood and have 7 years teaching experience under my belt and would love to impart the things I have learned the hard way so you won't have to!

Kat is an extremely great and patient teacher, she helped me learn how to strengthen my vocals and learn how to work on weak areas.

I’ve had 5 sessions with Kat. She’s been so patient and encouraging and positive. I like that she helps me refine my technique and focus on details, like my finger placements and angles and the way I hold my arm. She gave me some fun songs and exercises that help me strengthen my fingerpicking and strumming. I can feel the difference in my ukulele playing from when I first started vs now!

Kat is an amazing teacher! Not only does she have a beautiful voice and attitude towards life, she is so knowledgeable about the art of singing. She always finds creative and supportive ways to ensure that I am comfortable to sing. I am excited for my lesson every week and always learn something new. I have noticed my voice strength improving and feel more confident in general. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kat. I am forever grateful to have found her.
