    6th-8th Reading, Writing, and Spelling

Welcome to the structured literacy-based reading and writing class designed for middle school students in grades 6th through 8th. This class has been crafted with an aim to strengthen the reading, writing, and spelling skills of middle school students. Mrs. Deanna personally understands the current illiteracy crisis happening due to students only being exposed to Balance Literacy in school. What most parents aren't safe of is the historical aspects of Structured literacy. It is a research-based approach that incorporates systematic and explicit instruction, emphasizing upon phonological awareness, decoding skills, vocabulary development, oral language development, sentence structure, and comprehension. Reading and writing is a reciprocal relationship in education. If students can read a word they can spell a word. If they're having issues with spelling and writing, they may need help with reading as well. The curriculum for this reading and writing class includes various instructional materials that cater to the individual needs of the students. The digital materials used are comprehensive and engaging, providing an ideal learning environment for middle schoolers. By joining the structured literacy-based reading and writing class, your child will develop confidence and skills in areas such as sentence structure, syntax, vocabulary usage, punctuation marks, grammar usage in written communication. Additionally, they will also learn how to plan their ideas effectively and present them coherently in written assignments. We aim to provide our students with personalized feedback to further enhance their progress while maintaining a supportive and constructive classroom environment. Sign up today in creating strong readers and writers who possess essential skills needed for academic success.

You can call me Mrs. Deanna. I am a homeschool educator of my own two kids. I am a Multiply Neurodivergent Adult. (Gifted, Dyslexic, and ADHD) Yet, I learned to read with Phonics in 1998, and I took FREE structured literacy training to teach my own two children to read. I graduated highschool with Honors, I won writing contests throughout my early education, and I am a self published author of two books: "The Imperfect Advocate" "Astronomical Learning" I have personally witnessed literacy and math issues with my own family and I want to use my skills to help others acquire the neurobiological skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
